Remember the yummy ice pops recipe I shared in collab. with my lovely friends from IZZE back in the summer? They were such a hit with you guys that I’m excited to be back with another inventive project inspired by IZZE’s colorful and festive Sparking Juice drinks. As we’re now well and truly in the flow of fall I’m taking my cue from the seasons once again. This time, I’m sharing a fun DIY fall leaf wreath project that’s the perfect autumnal decor piece to make for your home. I love how this fall leaf wreath came out and I’m sharing all the steps so you can make your own. Check it out below!
WHAT TO DO
Step 1: Using the hot glue gun, fix the end of the raffia string to the polystyrene wreath.
Step 2: Tightly wrap the raffia all the way around the wreath until it’s fully covered in the string. Be sure to keep the raffia closely bound and tight as you go around to give an even and professional finish. This is the most time consuming part of the project but I found it to be oddly therapeutic! Plus, you can easily quench any thirst with the IZZE bottle to hand!
Step 3: Using your leaf template cut out leaf shapes from variety of colored felt. I chose my colors based on the colors of IZZE Sparkling Juices, such as Clementine, because they matched the gorgeous autumnal colors of the fall season. Be sure to cut out enough to cover one whole rotation of the wreath.
Step 4: Pinch each of the cut out felt leaves at their base and stick the meeting parts other so that they become more life-like and 3D.
Step 5: Cut out a length of leather to make a hanging strap and fasten it to the wreath. I then used the cap of an IZZE Sparkling Juice to cover the fastening – aside from being practical, it makes for the perfect little finishing touch! Once completed, you can then use this strap to either hang the wreath on a door or to attach ribbon to so you can hang it over pictures etc.
Step 6: Use the hot glue gun to attach the felt leaves to the wreath. Only a small dab of glue is needed for each one and be sure to place the leaves quite snugly alongside one another so that you don’t have any gaps. Et voila! Your fall leaf wreath is ready to be proudly hung.
I hung my fall leaf wreath over a large square print that’s hung above the TV in my apartment. I love how the frame serves as a surround for the fall leaf wreath as well as the print itself as it gives it a little more prominence in the space. Rather than stuff my somewhat minimalist (I say somewhat because there’s definitely a lot of clutter and magazines and goodness knows what else hiding in the cupboards and drawers!) apartment with lots of OTT fall decor, I like to keep things simple and gently colorful. This IZZE sparkling juice inspired fall leaf wreath is something that nods to the autumnal colors I can see outside my window, without dominating or detracting from the year round decor I already have. I love it! Happy new season, friends!// Photography and DIY project by Will Taylor for IZZE
